Things running through my head while I was trying to fall asleep.......

1. The dates daycare will be on vacation. This means I am hunting for childcare for that week.

Probably going to have to beg some days from Grandma and Grandpa

Meaning that Carter will most likely be there

By himself

Over night

with out us

For the first time

I'm starting to hyperventilate.

My co-worker R, who is ever wise, told me to look at it this way.  How close was I to my Grandma and Grandpa?  My response was pretty close, especially my Grandma.   This would be the perfect opportunity for bonding time.   He will be fine.

I will probably be a mess.

2. The date of the annual family BBQ at my Grandpa's

3.The remaining items to pack for the weekend.

4. The correct way to lay my head on the pillow to avoid certain neck spasms, making it impossible to turn my head 180 degrees from left to right or vice versa....360........hmmmmmm maybe a little to exorcist.

5. Why Carter is not sleeping well.

6. How incredibly tired I am, but unable to fall asleep.

7. Starting a new business.

8. How bright our bedroom seems and how maybe I should move the night light again.

9. Work

10. We need stairs for the dog to get on the bed.

11. How tired I am.

Case of the Droopy McDroopies

Carter is not sleeping well.  It's his molars.

So I am not sleeping well. When I don't sleep well,  I tend to be crabby.

I apologize.

I'm not sleeping well because it is sometimes impossible to wake Peter up in the middle of the night to go get Carter so I just end up doing it then I have trouble falling back to sleep.  We have let him sleep with us a few nights and now he thinks that should be the way it is.

He is mistaken.

But right now, I am so tired that I don't care.

So as I write this, I am barely keeping my eyelids open and it is not yet 3pm.  A serious case of the afternoon droopies. I am probably also offending the God's of grammar.

This has been an insane week too.  Busy at work and something happening almost every night this week. It is not going to end soon either.  Maybe I will get to sleep next week.  Maybe.

We have a family reunion this weekend so there will be some fun stories and more pictures.  Until then, know that I envy all you sleeping beauties out there.

Maybe I will get to sleep next week.

Maybe.

"Bouquet's of freshly sharpened pencils..."

10 points to the first person who can name the movie the title of this post comes from.

I have not decided what the prize for the first person to 100 points is...but just go with it.

I was at a local pharmacy this weekend and they had summer gear on clearance to make room for school supplies.

I was almost giddy!

I love it when the school supplies come out.  The smell of the crisp, clean paper.........the pencils in a rainbow of colors....... the endless supply of organizational containers and locker gear.

 (Sigh!)

Remember when you did not have all of these fancy choices?  Pencils were yellow with red erasers, notebooks came in 5 colors.....red, blue, yellow, black, and  green.  Folders came in the same color choices.

Crayons came in an 8 pack. They still come that way and thank goodness they are washable.

Other wise my living room chair would have a large orange streak across the seat and the dining room table would be accented with purple.

Remember when Trapper Keepers came out?    Oh, the glory of the zipper pockets and the 3 rings binder and the pouches all encased in some awesome vinyl 80's inspired design that closed with Velcro.

Those were the days!

I am sure the teachers loved them too.   The beginning of every class listening to the sound of the Velcro ripping open and the zippers and the pop of the rings.  Of course this was never just the beginning of class this happened the entire day.  Someone was always getting back into the pocket or opening and closing the Velcro cover.

What about the backpacks?  That was a big thing for a while,  having the most awesome bag to lug around your 25lbs of books and other stuff.  Stuff that may not have been necessary, but hey you never knew when you were gonna need your Lipsmackers in every flavor possible.  Then someone thought,  "Hey lets put wheels on the bags", making it necessary to shove more into the bag since you did not have to carry it.

 Genius.

Now there is an endless array of colors, shapes and sizes.  How does one choose?

While I have no plans to return to school in the near future, I still like going and checking out the new, must have supplies.  It is true that some day I may come to hate, loathe and despise back to school shopping when I must do it for my own children. But for now, I will bask in the glory of the back to school section.
